The Role of Imaging Along the Stroke Pathway

Stroke is the second leading cause of death and a major cause of disability worldwide. One out of four will experience a stroke in their lifetime. With its high potential for causing permanent disability, early and accurate diagnosis is crucial. Advances in medical imaging, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), and angiography, play a pivotal role in quickly identifying the type, location, and extent of the stroke. These imaging technologies guide treatment decisions, which can significantly improve outcomes and reduce the risk of lasting damage.
Siemens Healthineers offers a wide range of modalities along the whole patient pathway, helping physicians to diagnose stroke at an earliest possible stage, ultimately treat stroke, and potentially help to reduce stroke recurrences.
